The first of twelve new homes on our Priesthill development have been handed over to tenants this week, marking the end of an eighteen-month construction programme on the site off Househillwood Road.
The new properties — a mix of two and three-bedroom houses and bungalows — have been designed to meet Scottish Government’s most recent sustainability standards. Each home features high levels of insulation, solar PV panels, and air source heat pumps, meaning residents can expect significantly lower energy bills than in older stock.
Built for the long term
The development replaces a former community centre site that had stood empty for several years. Working with our delivery partners at CCG Scotland, the homes have been designed to a Bronze Active Standard, with extra wide doorways, level access throughout, and walk-in showers in every property. Two of the bungalows are fully wheelchair accessible.
“These aren’t just houses, they’re homes that should last fifty years and more,” says Helen, our Development Manager. “That means designing for the way families actually live now — working from home, multi-generational households, accessibility needs that change over time. We’ve tried to build that flexibility into every single property.”
Who’s moving in
Tenants moving into the new homes have come from our existing housing register, with priority given to applicants who have local connections to Priesthill and Pollok, and to those whose current housing was unsuitable for medical or family reasons.
Among the first families to move in are James and Marie, who’ve been on our register for three years and are excited to be staying in the neighbourhood. “Both our kids go to school just round the corner. The thought of having to leave the area was really hard. Knowing we’re moving into something brand new, right here, makes such a difference.”
What’s next
All twelve homes are expected to be occupied by the end of June. We’ll be holding an open afternoon for neighbours and partner organisations on Saturday 21 June, 1pm to 4pm, with refreshments and the chance to tour one of the show properties. Everyone’s welcome.
Looking further ahead, planning permission has been granted for a further phase of fourteen homes on the adjacent site, with construction expected to begin in autumn 2026.
For anyone interested in applying to be considered for future Rosehill properties, our housing register is open year-round.
